On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Beidou navigation Satellite System mission has once again delivered good news. At 5:10 am on September 23, 2019, China successfully launched the 47th and 48th Beidou navigation satellites from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center with a Long March-3B carrier rocket.c
The two satellites belong to the medium-circle Earth orbit satellites, which are the networking satellites of the Beidou-3 system currently under construction in China. After more than three hours of flight, the satellite successfully entered the scheduled orbit, and will be followed by in-orbit tests and timely access to the network to provide services.
At present, the launch of the global network of the Beidou navigation satellite system has entered the countdown. Beidou, together with other global navigation satellite systems, will provide the world with positioning, navigation and timing services with higher precision, more stable operation and more reliable functions, become a major public service space infrastructure for the world, and make "China's contribution" to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
It is reported that the original launch "window" of the launch mission should not be implemented due to weather reasons, in order not to affect the entire networking planning process, the Beidou Engineering headquarters quickly adjusted the construction period, transformed the state, and decided to launch ahead of schedule. All the staff devoted themselves to intense work with full enthusiasm, worked overtime, and did not spare the day and night. The launch site system, carrier rocket and satellite system, and measurement and control system accurately organized and commanded, strictly controlled quality, and scientifically deployed forces. The measurement and control stations distributed in the desert Gobi, island border, ocean and space were three-dimensional relay measurement and control. Decisively and confidently achieved the task process results of "double complete", with successful news to the motherland expressed the most special and most sincere blessing.
The Beidou navigation satellite and supporting launch vehicle (and supporting Expedition-1 upper stage) were respectively developed by the China Academy of Space Technology and the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation Limited. It was the 312th flight of the Long March carrier rocket family.
